MoniClaire Vineyards
2014 Sauvignon Blanc
Dry Creek Valley
2014 Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaker review: This wine was made in a fresh, non-malolactic style. This year’s Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and tropical, floral with distinct peach and Mango overtones. The Musque clone which we have planted delivers the characteristics typical of fine, old world Sauvignon Blanc. Nice acidity makes this wine perfect for oysters, smoked salmon, grilled chicken or just sipping by the pool.

Winemaker review: Luscious and dark with incredible viscosity and mouth feel. Rich plum, vanilla and blackberry dominate the front palate while mocha and chocolate fan out over mid-palate and finish. This wine has elegant grip and a sense of texture and traction that grabs your palate and gives the other flavors in the wine exceptional balance. This results from the wine's complex structure of acid and tannins.

Winemaker review: Opaque and black purple in color, full bodied and powerful, offering a rich bouquet of blueberries, earth and plum, mingled with the familiar MoniClaire cocoa. Seasoned for 14 months in French oak, a subtle mixture of vanilla accentuates the forward fruit flavors. It is both big and elegant on the palate and offers a velvety mouth feel with a long satisfying and complex finish. It is ready to drink now or over the next 7 to 10 years. This is a wine that will age beautifully and continue to develop more of that earthy cocoa flavor. This wine will pair marvelously with grilled meats and powerful cheeses. 2013 Estate "Barnside" Zinfandel
Dry Creek Valley
2013 Estate "Barnside" Zinfandel

Winemaker review: Our first vineyard designated wine. Made from our earliest planted zinfandel block and composed of St. George rootstock coupled with the ‘Pacini’ clone. This small vineyard is located directly east of our converted barn; hence the name. Using all of the brilliant characteristics of the 2013 vintage, this wine is a full throttle, heavy weight, Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Aged for 13 months in medium toasted French oak barrels, it delivers forward black fruit flavors, a velvety mouth coating viscosity and a lingering mocha highlighted finish. Complex with layers of flavor, Barnside is delicious now and will continue to evolve for the next 8 to 12 years.

Winemaker review: Big and juicy; representative of the 2011 vintage in the Dry Creek Valley. This low yield vintage produced wines with deep extraction and a concentrated mouth coating viscosity. As always, the unique terroir of the MoniClaire Vineyards delivers cocoa and blackberries which we have seasoned with a touch of new French Oak. A small percentage of our Estate Petite Sirah adds some additional depth of color and structure. Expect this wine to age easily over the next 8 to 10 years.

2008 Estate Zinfandel Library Selection

Winemaker review: beautiful bouquet and a rich, protracted finish. This full-bodied wine is deep and graceful. Cinnamon, berries and violets are all part of this Zinfandel's fruity nose. The berry theme continues through the palate where it plays a large role. Additional fruits, particularly plum join all the berry-laden goodness along with a solid wallop of spices in this wines foundation. Also vanilla and pepper are particularly prominent and they continue through the finish which is long and hearty. Smooth and showy tannins along with solid acidity are both part of the package.
